Texas is famous for its BBQ, particularly for really mastering the art of beef. In any Texas BBQ joint, from Rudy’s Country Store to Franklin BBQ, you will find items like beef ribs, burnt ends, and the king of them all: BRISKET! This rub, with its predominate use of salt and pepper, is what Texas meat cooking is all about, and the subtle hints of onion and garlic on the back end round things out perfectly.
Ingredients
- 1 cup ground black pepper (16 mesh, if possible)
- 1/2 cup kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons cumin
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
Directions
In a glass bowl, combine all ingredients and whisk until fully incorporated. The rub will be ready for immediate use or can be stored, in an air tight container, for up to one year.
